Stockholm, 30 June 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Sweden Olzhas Suleimenov held a meeting with Camilla Mellander, Director General for Trade Policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the outcomes of the recent visit of a broad-based Swedish delegation to Astana, led by Ms. Mellander, on the occasion of the 16th International Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress. As part of the visit, the delegation held meetings with key Kazakh government agencies and organizations in the fields of railway station productivity and safety, air navigation, and sustainable technologies, helping to outline concrete areas for the expansion of practical cooperation.
Ambassador Suleimenov emphasized that Kazakhstan views Sweden as one of its key economic partners in Northern Europe and attaches particular importance to developing a long-term, sustainable partnership with Swedish companies. He noted that both Ms. Mellander’s visit to Astana and the Kazakhstan–Sweden Business Roundtable, held in Stockholm in May this year, reflected the growing interest of Swedish businesses in the Kazakh market and the substantial potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as mechanical engineering, mining, renewable energy, agriculture, and the IT sector.
In conclusion, the two sides discussed concrete steps to further intensify bilateral engagement, including the exchange of visits and the development of mechanisms to institutionalize the trade and economic dialogue.
