Meeting with Young Kazakh Scientists in Berlin

Berlin, July 3, 2025 - Ambassador Nurlan Onzhanov held a meeting at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Berlin with a group of 27 young Kazakh scientists who arrived in Germany for an internship under the “Internship for 500 Scientists” scholarship program as part of the “Bolashak” initiative. The program is dedicated to the theme of “Green Technologies and Sustainable Development.”

The group includes representatives from various research institutes, universities, and specialized organizations across Kazakhstan. The participants are implementing their scientific projects in Germany at leading research institutions and companies that specialize in green technologies and sustainable development.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Onzhanov, spoke in detail about the activities and key objectives of the Kazakh diplomatic mission abroad. He emphasized the importance of developing humanitarian, scientific, and educational ties between Kazakhstan and Germany. Special attention was given to the significance of international scientific cooperation as a key element in modernizing the national economy and integrating into the global scientific community.

The Ambassador informed about the activities and prospects of the Kazakh-German Research Cooperation Center, created on the basis of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and noted the importance of establishing targeted contacts with partners in Germany for further joint work within the framework of this research center.

The head of the diplomatic mission also shared information on current joint projects between Kazakhstan and Germany in the fields of education, science, and innovation. He noted that the demand for Kazakh specialists and researchers abroad is a clear indicator of the high level of training and potential of Kazakhstan’s scientific community.

In addition, the participants became acquainted with the embassy’s permanent exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of Kazakhstan. They also visited a traditional yurt installed on the embassy grounds, where they were introduced to national Kazakh symbols, elements of everyday life, and cultural traditions.

The meeting took place in a spirit of open and meaningful dialogue, contributing to the strengthening of scientific and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Germany.

The “Internship for 500 Scientists” program, launched in 2021, is implemented under the “Bolashak” scholarship initiative. It is aimed at enabling Kazakh researchers, educators, and specialists to undertake short- and medium-term scientific internships at leading international research and academic centers. The main goal is to enhance professional qualifications, facilitate knowledge exchange, and promote the adoption of advanced scientific approaches in priority areas for Kazakhstan, such as green technologies, medicine, engineering, digitalization, and sustainable development.
