In Shymkent, 193 criminal cases were registered in the investigation bodies last week, 13 of which were sent to court. The most frequently registered crimes include fraud - 38 cases, theft - 27 cases, illegal drug trafficking - 12 cases, robbery - 10 cases, and 11 cases related to traffic accidents. The majority of fraud crimes are related to Internet fraud (28 cases). Among them, fraudulent methods are often found through fake product advertisements on the Internet (13 cases), false investment offers (3 cases), calls made by pretending to be bank employees, telecommunications operators, or representatives of government agencies (11 cases), and through loan processing (2 cases). For example, last week, an unknown person called a city resident named "G", introduced himself as an employee of the bank's security department, said that a dubious loan had been processed from his bank account, and informed him that the funds needed to be transferred to a "safe" account. As a result, the victim transferred more than 3,700,000 tenge to the fraudster's account. A criminal case has been opened on this fact and an investigation is underway. Since such cases of Internet fraud are registered every day, we urge residents and guests of the city to be vigilant: we recommend not to disclose personal data when receiving suspicious calls from unknown persons and to contact official hotlines for information regarding bank accounts. In addition, there is an increase in cases of pickpocketing and theft of mobile phones. On July 6, during a festive event in the central park, an unknown person secretly stole a mobile phone from the child of a citizen named "S". Since such thefts often occur, especially in markets, public transport and festive events, we advise residents not to put valuables in their pockets in crowded places and not to let children touch them. In addition, the availability of leaflets advertising drugs on the Internet encourages young people to engage in illegal courier services and drug use. According to statistics, young people who provide courier services are most often detained in cases related to drug trafficking. In this regard, we urge the younger generation not to be fooled by dubious messages on social networks, not to accept illegal offers, and to lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition, several traffic accidents were registered in the city last week, and the number of victims increased. Most of the criminal cases occurred due to drivers speeding and being distracted by mobile phones. In particular, 5 cases of pedestrians hitting and collisions with vehicles, 2 cases of pedestrians crossing in an unauthorized place, 1 case of minors driving scooters and mopeds without observing traffic rules, and 1 case of driving under the influence of alcohol were registered. In this regard, we urge city residents to strictly observe traffic rules, and parents to strictly prohibit the use of scooters and high-speed scooters in order to ensure the life and safety of children.
This was announced by the official representative of the Shymkent city administration, deputy city akim, Sarsen Abayuly Kuranbek.
