Today, a working meeting with deputies of the Mazhilis was held at the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the deputies were acquainted with the activities of the Agency and the current progress of the nuclear power plant construction project.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Agency, A.M. Satkaliyev, noted that the development of nuclear energy is an important part of the sustainable growth of the country's economy.
"The construction of a nuclear power plant is not just the construction of an energy facility. It is the launch of a nuclear cluster that will create new jobs, attract investment, and give impetus to the development of science, education, mechanical engineering, and other sectors of the economy," said A.M. Satkaliyev.

During the meeting, the Agency's main areas of activity were presented, plans for the construction of the first nuclear power plant, regulatory and legal regulation, personnel training, and the development of relevant infrastructure were discussed.

The question-and-answer session discussed the prospects for building a second nuclear power plant, the development of the country's nuclear industry, the localization of production and the participation of domestic enterprises in the needs of nuclear power plants, as well as the Agency's legislative initiatives.

The deputies expressed their readiness to support all projects and initiatives of the Agency. Interaction in this direction will continue within the framework of legislative support and public control.
