The “Izgi Zhürek” (“Kind Heart”) award is presented annually to residents of East Kazakhstan who have demonstrated heroism and saved lives. The award was established by the KazZinc company, and recipients are chosen through public voting.
In the category with six nominees, the public gave special recognition to a corporal of the military police forces for his selfless act of bravery. He rescued a drowning girl from the Ulba River and was declared the winner, receiving a certificate worth one million tenge.
This year, the award was granted to Senior Soldier PermaBek Zhanasbek from military unit 6699 under the “Shyģys” Regional Command. He distinguished himself while on vacation by showing true courage.
While walking near the Ulba River in Ust-Kamenogorsk, he noticed a young woman drowning. Despite the strong current, the serviceman bravely jumped into the water and saved her. For this act, the award’s organizers — the management of KazZinc — presented him with a certificate for one million tenge.
Earlier, Corporal Zhanasbek PermaBek was awarded the “Aibyn” III Degree Order named after Rakhymzhan Koshkarbaev, by decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in recognition of his bravery. A father of four, he has honorably served in the ranks of the National Guard for more than ten years.
It is worth noting that National Guard servicemen of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan have received the “Izgi Zhürek” prize for the third year in a row. In 2024, the award went to Lieutenant Colonel Denis Shemet, and in 2023 — to Corporal Tilek Kumarbekov.
