On July 21, 2025, the Commissioner for Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Artur Ermekovich Lastaev, visited institution No. 28 of the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System for the West Kazakhstan region.

The main purpose of the visit was to ensure the observance of the rights of convicts and to monitor their conditions of detention. During the trip, Artur Ermekovich, together with representatives of the institution's administration and the supervisory commission, held a reception for convicts on personal issues, including those held in strict conditions and in squad rooms.

During the visit, special attention was paid to the issues of compliance with legislation regarding the rights of convicts, conditions of detention, medical care, as well as the provision of opportunities to appeal and defend their rights in accordance with the established procedure. The convicts had the opportunity to personally address the Commissioner with their concerns.
