Commissioner for Human Rights Artur Lastaev and Regional Prosecutor Marat Abishev visited medium security facility No. 8 located in Aktobe.

During the visit, the administration of the institution showed the living conditions of the convicts, as well as how meals and medical care were organized.

Thanks to the support of the regional akimat and with the assistance of the regional prosecutor's office, the institution is gradually being equipped with the necessary technical means for training convicts and equipment for labor organization. In other words, convicts get the opportunity to acquire professional skills and re-socialize after their release. 

Thus, there is a secondary school on the territory of the institution and 18 production facilities specializing in the processing of fish products, the manufacture of reinforced concrete products, etc., where 215 convicts work.

The Commissioner held a meeting with the prisoners, following which the administration of the institution was given recommendations on improving the conditions of detention.

In turn, the regional prosecutor reviewed the petitions and complaints of convicts in specific criminal cases.

 Marat Abishev noted that the issues of protecting the rights of convicts are under constant control, constructive interaction and effective cooperation have been established with all interested bodies, including the representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Aktobe region.
