Brussels, 28 July 2025 – As part of the established diplomatic protocol, the Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Belgium, Head of the Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, Roman Vassilenko, presented copies of his Letters of Credence to Vadym Lucenko, Deputy Chief of Protocol of the European External Action Service (EEAS).

The ceremony was held in accordance with protocol and was accompanied by an exchange of views on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
Both sides confirmed their mutual commitment to further developing constructive cooperation across various fields.

As part of introductory engagements with EEAS, Roman Vassilenko held his first meeting with Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Managing Director for Eastern Partnership, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia at the EEAS.

The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to bilateral and regional cooperation, highlighting the stable nature of the partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU. The positive momentum of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, and sectoral collaboration – including in the areas of energy, transport, logistics, green and digital transformation – was positively assessed.

They paid special attention to the implementation of the agreements reached following the EU-Central Asia Summit held in Samarkand in April 2025. Practical steps were discussed to implement the provisions of the EU-Central Asia Joint Roadmap aimed at strengthening sustainable interregional connectivity, supporting socio-economic development, and enhancing joint responses to global challenges.

In the context of institutional and programmatic cooperation, the importance of the Team Europe instruments and the Global Gateway initiative was underscored, as they provide additional support to regional and interregional projects in transport and logistics, digitalisation, and the environment.

The parties discussed Kazakhstan’s planned participation in thematic events during the second half of 2025, including high- and top-level visits, as well as engagement in sectoral forums and EU-Central Asia dialogue platforms.

The meeting concluded with mutual interest expressed in further strengthening political and economic ties, expanding institutional cooperation, and jointly implementing long-term initiatives serving the goals of sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.
