A true act of heroism in everyday life was performed by Lieutenant Dastan Saylaubekov, Deputy Company Commander for Educational and Social-Legal Work of Military Unit 6505 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thanks to his decisive and selfless actions, the spread of the fire was prevented, and the life of an elderly woman was saved.

The incident occurred in the evening. While returning home from the store on his day off, the officer noticed smoke coming from the window of an apartment. Without hesitation, he called the emergency services and rushed to help.

“I called the emergency response service and ran to the apartment. A woman around 60 years old opened the door. I went inside and saw that the gas stove and kitchen hood were on fire,” Lieutenant Saylaubekov recalled.

Assessing the situation, the guardsman acted swiftly: he soaked a towel in water, covered the burning pot, and eliminated the source of the fire. He then led the disoriented woman out to the stairwell and stayed with her, providing moral support until emergency crews arrived.

When the firefighters, ambulance, and police arrived, Lieutenant Saylaubekov briefed them on the situation. Fortunately, thanks to his quick actions, no one was injured, and the fire did not spread to other areas.

This incident once again highlights that the servicemen of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan are always ready to help, even when off duty. Lieutenant Saylaubekov’s courageous and selfless act stands as an example of true officer duty, civic responsibility, and compassion.
