The document put an end to the long-standing military conflict between the two states and opened the way to the establishment of diplomatic relations and the development of cooperation between them on the basis of lasting peace.

According to the Head of State, the signing of a unique agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia became possible thanks to the energetic and effective mediation mission of US President Donald Trump, who managed to convince the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders to fully demonstrate political will and strategic foresight.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev notes that Kazakhstan has also made its contribution to achieving such important agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia by proposing Almaty as a venue for negotiations at the level of foreign ministers on key parameters of the peace treaty.
