On July 31, 2025, a large-scale clean-up day was held in the Karatau district of Shymkent, organized by the department for the development of a comfortable urban environment together with the contractor Zhasyl-Zher Shymkent LLP. The action covered the central streets of the district, including Nazarbayev Avenue, Mustafa Shokai, Nazarbekov and Argynbekov streets. About 200 workers took part in the event, who were distributed among key areas, 50 people in each zone. To ensure effective work, about 25 units of specialized equipment were involved, including garbage trucks, tractors, watering machines and equipment for cleaning ditches.

During the clean-up day, work was carried out to clean sidewalks, house plots, green areas, as well as cutting down dry trees and mowing weeds. Particular attention was paid to cleaning up garbage from roadsides and roadside strips. Part of the effort was directed at cleaning irrigation canals, which is especially important in the summer, when water drainage plays an important role in maintaining urban infrastructure.

The purpose of the event was not only to restore order, but also to form environmental awareness among the population. Representatives of the contracting organization note that such actions are necessary to remind citizens of their shared responsibility for the cleanliness and improvement of their hometown. Not only employees of public utilities, but also ordinary residents of the district took part in the cleanup, which became an important signal of the awakening of civil initiative.

A distinctive feature of this campaign was high-quality technical support. The availability of modern equipment allowed us to speed up the process and cover large areas in a short time. In the past, such events were often limited to manual cleaning and small forces, which reduced efficiency and coverage. Now the approach has become more systematic and thoughtful: routes are developed in advance, lists of areas are compiled, working groups are selected and the necessary equipment is determined.

Compared to similar events held in 2023 and 2024, there is an increase in coordination and scale. Previously, clean-up days were held sporadically and mainly covered narrow areas or courtyards. Today, the format has expanded to a full-fledged cleaning of city streets with the involvement of not only municipal services, but also representatives of the public. This indicates the development of a culture of collective responsibility and increased interaction between citizens and authorities.

During the work, special attention was paid to cleaning those areas where garbage accumulates especially quickly - these are, as a rule, places along pedestrian roads, bus stops and spontaneous parking lots. Such places not only spoil the appearance of the area, but also create inconvenience for pedestrians and drivers. Cleaning these areas requires constant attention, and holding regular clean-up days is an effective way to solve the problem.

Residents of the area gave a positive assessment of the work carried out. Many of them came out of their homes to help with the cleaning, tidy up their yards, remove trash and paint curbs. It is especially nice to see how entire families take part in such events. Children, watching their parents, learn to take care of the environment, which forms useful habits for the future.

According to the organizers, such events will continue to be held on a regular basis. In the future, it is planned to expand the geography of cleanups, attract more schoolchildren, students, volunteers and business representatives. Proposals for holding thematic cleanups with the participation of art groups, sports clubs and initiative groups of residents are also being considered.

The clean-up day on August 2 in Karatau district became one of the examples of successful implementation of the city strategy of cleanliness and order. In one day, it was possible to restore order on kilometers of city streets, improve the appearance of the district, and most importantly — strengthen the sense of unity among its residents. People, working together for one common cause, begin to perceive the city space differently — as part of their own home, which needs to be taken care of.

The results of the event clearly demonstrate that with proper organization, participation of concerned citizens and support from city authorities, significant results can be achieved. Cleanliness, improvement and comfort in the city do not arise by themselves - they are the result of targeted work and joint efforts of thousands of people.

Shymkent is gradually strengthening its status as a city where it is comfortable to live. And each such action is a step forward towards creating a greener, cleaner and more beautiful city. It is such initiatives that help to cultivate a culture of responsibility for the common good and lay a solid foundation for future generations.
