Kazakhstan and Holy See Aim to Strengthen Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation

Astana, August 20, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov met with Apostolic Nuncio to Kazakhstan Archbishop George Panamthundil.

Interlocutors reaffirmed the constructive nature of Kazakhstan-Vatican relations and the broad scope of their bilateral dialogue.

Special attention was given to the preparations for the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which to be held in Astana on September 17-18, 2025. The Kazakh side expressed appreciation to the Holy See for its consistent and active participation in the work of the Congress.

Both sides also reviewed prospects for cooperation in the fields of science and education. The parties noted with appreciation the growing collaboration between the R.Suleimov Institute of Oriental Studies and the Vatican Apostolic Archive and Library.

In addition, the parties discussed Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the renowned “Bambino Gesú” pediatric hospital, including plans to develop joint projects in pediatric neurology and epileptology.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to continue a regular dialogue on issues of comprehensive cooperation.
