The seventh meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan was held under the chairmanship of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sadyr Japarov.
The Head of State thanked Sadyr Zhaparov for the invitation to the fraternal Kyrgyz country and noted that the purpose of this official visit is to strengthen Kazakh-Kyrgyz ties and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation.
– Thanks to the high-level political dialogue, we will raise the cooperation between the two countries to a new qualitative level. I firmly believe in this. Like the twin eagles of the sacred Alatau, Kazakhs and Kyrgyz are fraternal peoples with a common destiny from time immemorial. Countries that have been able to support each other in difficult times and wish each other well in happy days. Our friendship, which has survived many storms of history, is a legacy left by our ancestors, a spiritual treasure passed down from generation to generation. Now the relationship between the two peoples has developed into a strong partnership based on mutual trust and respect. The ties between the two countries are developing in the spirit of alliance. Kyrgyzstan is one of Kazakhstan's main strategic partners in the region. The volume of bilateral trade has reached about $2 billion. There is every opportunity to double this figure. Investment cooperation is strengthening from year to year. Thanks to this, various joint projects have been successfully implemented. Harmonious work is being carried out in the water and energy sectors. Our ties in the cultural and humanitarian spheres are also strengthening, - said the President of Kazakhstan.
According to the Head of State, our country pays special attention to deepening integration with Kyrgyzstan.
– Last year, we signed a historic treaty on expanding alliance relations. Today, we are adopting a comprehensive plan for cooperation. I believe that these important steps will give a new impetus to the development of Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations. The governments of both countries should be guided by the goals and objectives set out in this plan, – said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
