The city is completing preparations for the 2025–2026 heating season. The authorities assure that Shymkent will meet the cold weather without interruptions in heat supply.
Heating: Starting without failures
According to city services, 23 of 27 boiler houses are ready for winter. The inspection of 13 of 17 pumping stations has been completed, and the rest are planned to be ready by the end of August.
The length of the city's heating networks is about 840 kilometers. During the summer tests, 98 problematic sections were identified - 90 of them have already been eliminated, the rest are planned to be closed by September 1.
The update is ongoing
Large-scale modernization of heat supply facilities continued this season. Key boiler houses have been updated, and reconstruction of heating mains and pumping stations is underway.
"The main thing is not just to get through the winter without accidents, but to make the system more reliable in the long term. We have strengthened control in all areas to eliminate failures and ensure a stable supply of heat to the homes of Shymkent residents," said Aibek Kozhabekov, chief engineer of the State Enterprise "Kuatzhyluortalyk".
According to representatives of public utilities, in case of emergency situations, a prompt response is provided: mobile repair teams have been formed, ready to eliminate problems in the shortest possible time.
Houses and social facilities
The preparation of the housing stock is proceeding according to plan: out of more than two thousand apartment buildings, almost 70% are ready.
Social facilities are better prepared: all schools and cultural centres are 100% ready, hospitals are 95%.
“There cannot be any short-term disruptions in the social sector,” city officials emphasize.
Coal: both in reserve and with the population
Shymkent's total need for solid fuel for the winter is 23.3 thousand tons. More than half of this volume (55%) has already been purchased.
Budgetary institutions are fully supplied with coal. City residents are also active - more than 8 thousand tons (43%) have been purchased. In addition, 41 thousand tons are in the warehouses of private operators.
The Akimat of Shymkent emphasizes that fuel supplies will continue without interruption, and in the event of a sharp cold snap, reserves will allow for the rapid replenishment of needs.
Monitoring: in touch every day
Preparation for the heating season is under constant control of city services. Monitoring is carried out weekly, with special attention paid to vulnerable areas.
"Our task is to ensure that winter passes peacefully for city residents. All necessary measures for this have already been taken," the Shymkent Akimat stated.
The real test will begin later — when the temperature drops below zero. It is at this point that it will become clear how effectively the entire system worked: from fuel purchases to emergency services. For now, the city is demonstrating its readiness, and the responsible structures assure that Shymkent is not afraid of winter.
