Bratislava, August 26, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovakia, Zhanna Saginova, met with Dušan Novota, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Airport Bratislava.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of air connectivity between Kazakhstan and Slovakia, including the prospects for establishing a direct air route between Astana and Bratislava.
The Ambassador informed the airport management about measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to modernize the aviation sector, create six international air hubs, and plans to establish a national cargo air carrier.
It was noted that the implementation of the “open skies” regime and the fifth freedom of the air in Kazakhstan creates favorable conditions for foreign airlines to enter the market, enhances competition in civil aviation, and expands the geography of flights. At the same time, Kazakhstan, thanks to its advantageous geographical position and capabilities, can play a significant role in serving the growing flow of passengers and cargo between the European and Asian markets.
The Slovak side was invited to consider the possibility of organizing cargo air transportation, as well as using Kazakhstan airports as transit and alternate airports for European airline flights to the East. Our country can serve as a convenient transit hub for Slovak citizens traveling to Central and Southeast Asia.
Both parties agreed that establishing direct air connectivity will contribute to expanding mutual trade, business contacts, and tourist flows between Kazakhstan and Slovakia and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
