Dushanbe Pays Tribute to Kazakhstani Soldiers and the Great Poet Abai Kunanbaiuly
29.08.2025 20:43:25 99Dushanbe, August 29, 2025 – As part of his working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu visited several commemorative sites in the capital city.
The Kazakh delegation, led by Minister Nurtleu, laid a wreath at the monument to Kazakh soldiers who died on April 7, 1995, while fulfilling their military duty to protect the external borders of the Commonwealth of Independent States along the Tajik-Afghan section.
Additionally, flowers were laid at the bust of Abai Kunanbaiuly – the great Kazakh poet, thinker, and educator – which was constructed in 2024 in Abulkasim Firdousi Park of Culture and Recreation in Dushanbe.
These events reaffirm Kazakhstan’s commitment to preserving historical memory and honoring the spiritual values that unite the peoples of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
The monument to Kazakhstani soldiers was unveiled on December 15, 2007, with support from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Tajikistan, the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard of Kazakhstan, and other public organizations. It was restored in 2021.
