As part of the implementation of the Presidential Address “Fair Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Public Optimism” and other instructions of the Head of State, artificial intelligence is being actively developed in Kazakhstan and new educational initiatives are being introduced.

According to the MCRIAP RK, the IT industry is demonstrating steady growth. The number of IT companies in the country has exceeded 18 thousand, growth over the past three years has amounted to 16%. An important driver was the development of the international technopark Astana Hub, which unites more than 1,700 participants. The total revenue of residents reached 1.2 trillion tenge, export revenue exceeded 140 billion tenge.

Regional IT hubs have become a key element of the innovation ecosystem — there are already 19 of them in Kazakhstan. In addition, foreign sites have been opened: in Saudi Arabia, the USA, Great Britain, Dubai and China.

Together with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the introduction of AI into school programs has begun: first for students in grades 1–4, and later – up to grade 12.

In May, the first Republican AI Olympiad (AI Olymp) was held: the national team included two teams that successfully performed at the international Olympiad in Beijing, winning 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Kazakhstan shared 4th place in the number of gold medals along with Poland, India and Vietnam.

The AI Qyzmet program has also been launched — the first in Central Eurasia to train civil servants in AI skills. It is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the civil service by introducing digital tools into work processes.

"2024-2025 have become a time of significant initiatives in the field of AI. The concept until 2029 has been approved, the development of a strategy for the development of AI and digital transformation, as well as a bill on artificial intelligence, is underway,"
— noted the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev.

Work is underway to launch the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Alem.AI, which will become a platform for training specialists and scientific research.
