Kazakhstan and the UN Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Intercivilizational Dialogue

Astana, September 16, 2025 – On the sidelines of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, Akan Rakhmetullin, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with Miguel Angel Moratinos, the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, who is also the UN Special Envoy on Combating Islamophobia.

The parties discussed topical issues of the development of the intercivilizational and interreligious dialogue, as well as the role of Kazakhstan in promoting the global agenda of peace and mutual understanding.

The First Deputy Minister Rakhmetullin stressed that for many years Kazakhstan has been an initiator and an active participant in international efforts aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation between representatives of different religions and cultures. In this context, it was emphasized that the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which has grown into a respected global platform for open dialogue, holds particular significance.

The interlocutors confirmed their intention to continue close cooperation in promoting the ideas of mutual respect, tolerance and solidarity in the international arena.
