On September 3, 2025, another unique infrastructure project was launched in Shymkent. The long-awaited musical fountain is being built on the territory of the Lake. This facility will not only enhance the beauty of the city, but also become a new recreation area for residents and guests.

The main feature of the project is that more than 100 water cannons shoot water at different heights and move synchronously to the rhythm of the music. The water dance in harmony with the music, combined with modern LED lights, creates colorful shows and gives a special impression to the audience. Such technological solutions are aimed at satisfying the cultural and aesthetic needs of the population in the third metropolis of Kazakhstan.

Before the start of construction, work was carried out to clean the bottom of the lake. For this purpose, water was temporarily discharged into the Koshkar Ata River. The natural inhabitants of the lake - fish and other creatures - are kept in a special ditch with a spring source. Therefore, concerns about the fate of fish among local residents are unfounded. This indicates that environmentally sound planned measures are being implemented.

According to the Shymkent city administration, there are currently 86 fountains in 65 facilities in the city. Of these, 40 fountains in 25 facilities are under the control of the Urban Environment Development Department. The remaining 46 fountains in 40 locations are under the care of other state institutions and private entrepreneurs. All fountains are operating according to the established schedule.

In 2025 alone, 15 new fountains were built and put into operation in the city. Of these, 3 were put into operation in Abay district, 4 in Al-Farabi district, 2 in Enbekshi district, 4 in Karatau district, and 2 in Turan district. This indicator proves that constant work is being done to develop the infrastructure of the metropolis.

The construction of a new musical fountain is a step towards increasing the cultural and tourist potential of Shymkent. Such modern recreation areas located in the central part of the city will allow for family walks, youth gatherings, and effective leisure activities for city guests. In addition, such facilities will also have a positive impact on the city's tourism brand.

Looking back at the experience of past years, Shymkent has been systematically working on the construction and improvement of fountains. For example, after the city received the status of a metropolis at the republican level in 2019, special attention was paid to the revitalization of public spaces. During that period, a number of new fountains and flower beds were erected. And in 2021–2022, fountains equipped with light shows were built in central parks and the Arbat area. These projects received great support among the population and increased the attractiveness of the city.

However, over the years, some fountains have developed technical problems and required repairs. Currently, the akimat is strengthening its maintenance system, using new, modern equipment to prevent such problems. This is especially evident in the musical fountain being built on the Lake: the facility will be equipped with energy-saving LED lights, automatic control systems, and materials designed for long-term use.

The new fountain will have a significant impact on the life of the city. First, it is important from an ecological point of view: due to the cleaning of the water body, the natural condition of the lake will improve. Second, it will also have an economic impact - the area where the fountain is located will become an attractive place for business, new cafes and service facilities are likely to open here. Third, it will be socially significant - a new cultural and recreational place will be created for the city's residents.

When we compare such projects with events in previous years, we see that the scale and quality of current initiatives are significantly higher. While fountains in the past were mainly decorative, today's musical fountains are becoming real showplaces that use modern technology to provide residents with a cultural experience.

In general, such projects in the infrastructure development of Shymkent are aimed not only at improving the aesthetic image of the city, but also at improving the quality of life of residents. The construction of the musical fountain, which began on September 3, is a continuation of these strategic goals. There is every reason to say that this initiative is another important step towards the development of Shymkent as a modern metropolis.

According to the city authorities, the construction of the facility is planned to be completed by the end of this year and be presented to the public. Thus, Shymkent residents and guests of the city will soon be able to admire the beauty of the new musical fountain and spend joyful moments in the cultural recreation area.
