In Shymkent's Enbekshinsky District, regular inspections aimed at maintaining cleanliness, improvement, and safety continue. On September 1, District Akim D. Yesilbek, along with responsible officials, visited several key sites: Aknazarkhan and Elshibek Batyra Streets, the Cementshile microdistrict, Pobeda Park, and the alley along Elshibek Batyra Street. The focus was on inspecting the sanitary condition of streets and public spaces.
The city's sanitary cleanliness is not only a matter of appearance but also a matter of public health. Streets that aren't regularly cleaned accumulate dust, household waste, dry leaves, and branches. All of this creates an unhealthy environment, increases the risk of infectious diseases, and degrades quality of life. That's why, during the inspection, special attention was paid to the condition of roads, sidewalks, bus stops, and courtyards.
The working group identified areas requiring more frequent cleaning. Cases were noted where trash cans were overflowing and waste was not being collected in a timely manner. The district governor instructed the responsible agencies to ensure systematic waste collection and strengthen oversight of contractors responsible for street maintenance.
Particular attention was also paid to green areas. The condition of lawns, flower beds, and trees along streets and in parks was inspected. Plastic bottles, bags, and other trash often accumulate in these areas, spoiling the view and harming the environment. Akimat staff emphasized the need for regular sanitization of these areas to ensure they remain recreational spaces and not sources of pollution.
A separate discussion focused on the timely cleaning of streets and sidewalks. Summer and fall are particularly demanding: dry dust and dirt settle on the asphalt, and if cleaning is not done on time, it impacts the overall sanitary condition of the area. Following the inspection, it was decided to intensify street watering and cleaning efforts and to deploy additional equipment.
Container yards were also not overlooked. They are often the weak point in the sanitation system. In some places, containers are damaged, while others lack a canopy or fence, making these areas a source of unpleasant odors and unsanitary conditions. During the inspection, instructions were given to inventory the container yards and bring them into compliance with sanitary standards.
Comparing this year's cleanup with events of previous years, a difference in approach is noticeable. For example, last year, in early September, the district actively participated in large-scale environmental campaigns, when thousands of residents, along with municipal services, came out to clean streets, parks, and courtyards. It resembled a mass movement aimed at raising public awareness about cleanliness and the environment. People worked shoulder to shoulder, clearing streets of trash, planting trees, and beautifying their neighborhoods.
Today's inspection is different. It is more targeted and managerial. While last year's campaigns were aimed at mass public engagement, this year's approach demonstrates that the Akimat is focusing on ongoing and systematic oversight. It's important not just to clean a street once, but to establish a daily, meticulous process that will ensure long-term results.
Besides sanitary matters, other issues were also addressed during the inspection, including street lighting, the condition of children's playgrounds, and construction oversight. However, cleanliness was the top priority. After all, a well-lit street or a new playground is worthless if the surrounding area is dirty and littered.
Residents of the district have a positive view of these cleanups. Many say that the presence of oversight from the akimat and the direct involvement of district leadership increases the accountability of utility services and contractors. Residents note that regular cleaning significantly improves the atmosphere in areas where the neighborhoods are cleaned, making it more pleasant to walk and spend time with children.
Thus, a tour of the Yenbekshinsky District confirmed that sanitary cleanliness is the foundation of a well-maintained urban environment. Timely garbage collection, street cleaning, maintaining parks and alleys, and green space maintenance—all of this should not be a one-time event, but a daily routine. This is the only way to achieve sustainable results and foster a culture of environmental stewardship among residents.
Past experience and current practice show that combining mass cleanups with regular management oversight is the most effective approach. Mass cleanups attract public attention and engage people in the process, while systematic inspections allow for the identification of specific problems and prompt resolution. As a result, neighborhoods become cleaner, more comfortable, and safer.
The Yenbekshinsky District, as one of the most dynamically developing areas of Shymkent, requires special attention. Therefore, such patrols will continue, and sanitary cleanliness will remain a top priority for local authorities.
