On September 6, 2025, a large-scale city-wide clean-up was held in the Abay district of Shymkent. This event was organized to maintain cleanliness in the city, raise the environmental culture of residents, and call for shared responsibility. The district akimat, employees of state institutions, teams of educational organizations, volunteer youth, and local residents actively participated in the clean-up.
The Saturday morning cleaning campaign began at 9:00 am, and sanitary and cleaning works were carried out on the main streets, courtyards and public places in the district. In particular, the streets and courtyards of the Nurshuak, Akzhar, Yntymak, and Kyzylzhar microdistricts were cleaned, and the ditches and ditches were cleared of garbage. The dry grass on the roadsides was cut, and the roots of young trees were whitewashed. In addition, the trash cans at bus stops and public places were washed, and the territory was put in order.
A total of more than 700 people participated in this Saturday. Among them were employees of the Abai district akimat, specialists of the district municipal state institution "Abai", school teachers, students, enterprise employees and city residents. About 50 special equipment was deployed for the event, and more than 60 tons of household solid waste were removed from the city.
During the weekend, not only garbage collection was carried out, but also landscaping work was carried out. New flower seedlings were planted in several flower beds in the district center, benches were painted, and children's playgrounds were put in order. These works were aimed at creating a comfortable and cozy environment for city residents.
According to the akim of the Abay district, such cleanups make a great contribution to improving the environmental situation. "Maintaining cleanliness is the duty of every citizen. We are not limited to one-day cleanups. Such events will continue systematically. It is very important for us that the city residents, not indifferent to cleanliness, show activity," the akim of the district said.
Representatives of youth organizations also stood out during the weekend. In addition to cleaning the yards from garbage, they conducted educational work for residents on raising environmental culture. "A clean city means taking care of our common home. If everyone collected garbage in front of their house and took care of their surroundings, our city would become even more beautiful," said one of the young volunteers.
The event was a platform for education and practice for schoolchildren who participated in the event. Under the guidance of their teachers, the students not only collected garbage, but also shared their thoughts on the importance of protecting nature. This will help them to be more responsible about the environment in the future.
Local residents also participated in the Shabbat, showing an example of unity. The elderly and pensioners helped as much as they could and gave their blessings to the young. And the children actively participated in cleaning the playgrounds. Such joint work brought people closer together, strengthened mutual respect and harmony.
As a result of the work, the area around the district was cleaned up and beautified. After the garbage was collected, municipal workers washed and disinfected the area. Green areas along the roads were put in order, and water channels in the ditches were cleaned. As a result of these works, residents were able to live in a clean and safe environment.
In general, this Saturday, September 6, was not just a cleaning event, but an important event that called for the improvement of the ecological culture of residents, protection of nature, and common responsibility. Every resident of the city was once again reminded that "cleanliness is the key to health."
It is known that such large-scale works will continue in the future. The city administration and municipal institutions plan several clean-up and improvement campaigns for the autumn season. This, in turn, will contribute to improving the ecological situation in Shymkent and improving the quality of life of residents.
In conclusion, the city-wide cleanup in Abay district was not just a one-day cleanup, but a good event that demonstrated the dedication of residents to a common cause and their concern for the environment. If such initiatives continue, Shymkent will undoubtedly become one of the cleanest and most comfortable metropolises not only in our country, but also in Central Asia.
