On September 6, 2025, a large-scale citywide cleanup day was held in one of Shymkent's districts, organized as part of the national environmental campaign "Taza Kazakstan ." The event was attended by staff from the district akim's office, staff from the Enbekshi municipal state institution, employees of Inteko Group LLP, as well as numerous residents and activists who decided to contribute to the city's improvement.
The goal of the cleanup day was not only to tidy up and clean the area, but also to foster environmental awareness and respect among the population . A clean city directly impacts the health, mood, and quality of life of its residents. Therefore, such events not only contribute to improving the sanitary conditions of the districts but also instill in citizens a sense of personal responsibility for the well-being of their home region.
Early in the morning, the cleanup participants dispersed to designated streets, courtyards, and public spaces. Within a few hours, extensive work was accomplished:
The grass has been mown and the green spaces have been tidied up.
Using special equipment, mown plants and household waste were removed.
Dry and excess tree branches were trimmed, which allowed for the renewal of green areas.
Curbs, bus stops and pedestrian paths were thoroughly washed, giving the streets a well-groomed appearance.
The collected waste is carefully packed and taken to specially designated landfills .
The courtyards and public spaces have been tidied up, making them more comfortable for residents.
Particular attention is paid to the sanitary cleaning of social facilities - schools, kindergartens, clinics.
One of the main factors in the cleanup's success was the high level of public participation. Residents of the area enthusiastically participated in the cleanup, recognizing that cleanliness begins with each of us. Many families participated across generations: parents, children, and even pensioners.
Representatives of Inteko Group LLC provided waste removal equipment and actively participated in the improvement efforts. Employees of the Yebekshi State Institution organized landscaping and sanitation work. Employees of the district akim's office not only coordinated the activities but also personally participated in the street cleaning.
The cleanup day was another opportunity to remind residents of the importance of environmental awareness. Maintaining cleanliness is not the sole responsibility of utility services, but a shared responsibility of society as a whole .
Environmentalists note that the amount of household waste in cities is constantly growing, and it is precisely these kinds of mass events that help instill in citizens the habit of sorting waste, using trash cans, and maintaining cleanliness in public places.
Local residents who participated in the cleanup shared their opinions.
A resident of the Aidar district noted:
"Today we see that cleanliness in the city depends on us. If everyone takes responsibility for their own yard and street, then all of Shymkent will become cleaner and more beautiful."
And pensioner Saule apa added:
"The cleanliness of our streets is directly linked to our health. We must think about future generations and leave them a well-maintained city."
According to district administration officials, such cleanup days will be held regularly. Furthermore, they plan to strengthen outreach efforts to the public, especially young people and schoolchildren, to foster environmental awareness from an early age .
Special attention will be paid to the implementation of a waste separation system, landscaping of courtyards, and increasing the number of green spaces. Thematic events and flash mobs aimed at promoting cleanliness and order are also planned.
The cleanup day was a clear example of how joint efforts can significantly transform the urban environment. In just one day, dozens of streets, courtyards, and public spaces were cleaned. But most importantly, the event united residents and demonstrated that keeping the city clean is a shared responsibility .
The "Taza Kazakhstan" campaign continues to resonate with the public and is becoming an important part of city life. After all, a clean city is the key to health, comfort, and well-being for all its residents.
