On September 6, 2025, a large-scale cleanup event took place at the A. Askarov Shymkent State Arboretum . The event, part of the national environmental project "Clean Kazakhstan," became one of the most notable city improvement initiatives of the month.

The organizers emphasize that the main goal of the cleanup is not only to clean up the park but also to foster environmental awareness and a respectful attitude toward green spaces and nature in general among city residents.

The key objectives of the campaign include:

  • cleaning the area from household and construction waste,

  • care of green spaces,

  • the formation of a tradition of citizen participation in improvements,

  • creating favorable conditions for recreation for residents and visitors of the city.

The A. Askarov Arboretum is a unique natural area home to thousands of species of trees, shrubs, and rare plants. Its well-being directly impacts the city's ecological balance. Therefore, holding cleanup days there is especially important.

The work covered almost the entire park. Participants completed a wide range of tasks:

  • The area has been cleared of household waste, dry branches and fallen leaves.

  • Tree and shrub care activities were carried out: sanitary pruning, fertilizing, watering.

  • Dried and hazardous trees that were hindering the growth of young plants were cut down and removed.

  • Pedestrian paths, entrance areas and benches for resting people have been cleared.

  • Flower beds and ornamental flower gardens have been tidied up.

Not only utility workers and specialized equipment, but also dozens of volunteers were involved in the work. This combined effort made it possible to complete a large-scale cleanup in a single day.

Representatives of government organizations, students, schoolchildren, pensioners, and ordinary city residents concerned about environmental issues took part in the cleanup.

Young people were especially active. University students not only worked alongside adults but also led an awareness campaign on social media. They shared photos and videos from the event, encouraging their followers to participate in similar events.

The words of a participant, student Aruzhan, sounded especially vivid:
"When we care for nature, we care for the future. For me, this cleanup day was an important reminder that the cleanliness and order of our surroundings depends on each of us."

Honored city resident, pensioner Zhumabay-ata, noted:
"I often walk here with my grandchildren. I want the park to stay clean and beautiful. Today, I'm glad to see so many people come to help."

The cleanup day's organizers emphasized that such events are important not only from a practical standpoint. They also help people understand the need for a responsible approach to nature.

Environmentalists reminded participants of simple but important rules:

  • sort household waste,

  • reduce the use of plastic,

  • maintain cleanliness in public places,

  • participate in the planting of trees and green spaces.

According to them, only through the joint efforts of city residents and authorities can sustainable results be achieved.

The A. Askarov Arboretum is more than just a recreational area. It is a true "green lung" of Shymkent, serving educational, environmental, and scientific functions.

The park hosts excursions for schoolchildren and students, environmental lessons, and observations of rare plant species. It preserves biological diversity, which is valuable not only for the city but for the entire country.

Maintaining the cleanliness and well-being of the arboretum is directly linked to the quality of life of its residents. Clean air, well-maintained trees, and beautiful walking areas make it an attractive place for relaxation and leisure.

The cleanup day on September 6, 2025, was another step in the implementation of the large-scale environmental program "Clean Kazakhstan." In just a few hours, joint efforts not only cleaned the arboretum but also reminded city residents that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.

The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants and emphasized that such events will continue on a regular basis.
