On September 6, 2025, a large-scale cleanup day was held in Shymkent as part of the national environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan" in the Al-Farabi district. Government officials, military representatives, and local residents were brought together. The goal of the event was not only to restore sanitary conditions but also to foster environmental awareness among the population and strengthen civic responsibility for keeping their city clean.

The cleanup day was held with the active participation of the Al-Farabi District Akimat, district prosecutor's office staff, specialists from the Al-Farabi Municipal Municipality, Shymkent Garrison military personnel, and, of course, residents of the neighborhoods. According to the organizers, more than 200 people participated in the work, and 15 pieces of specialized equipment were deployed.

Participants in the event went to pre-designated areas where the main activities were carried out. The focus was on the sanitary cleaning of courtyards, streets, and public spaces.

During the clean-up day, a whole series of events were held:

  • removal of dry and damaged trees that could pose a danger to passers-by and disrupt the aesthetic appearance of the area;

  • mowing weeds and bushes that litter lawns and sidewalks;

  • washing and cleaning of sidewalks, road surfaces and pedestrian alleys;

  • collection and removal of solid household waste accumulated over the summer period.

As a result of the work, nearly 10 tons of waste were removed from the district. Trucks, tractors, and specialized equipment provided by the city's public utilities were used for this purpose.

The cleanup day had not only practical but also educational value. As representatives of the district administration emphasized, such events instill in residents an understanding of the importance of personal contribution to the common good. Each participant, whether an official, a military member, or a nearby resident, felt that street cleanliness depends largely on personal responsibility.

Particular attention was paid to engaging young people and students, as the next generation should serve as role models for environmentally responsible behavior. The participation of the garrison's soldiers also added a special touch of solemnity to the event, demonstrating that environmental protection and cleanliness are a national priority.

Residents of the area praised the initiative. Many noted that thanks to their joint efforts, the streets were noticeably cleaner and more well-maintained, and the atmosphere during the cleanup was friendly and inclusive. People of various professions and ages worked side by side, united by a single goal: to make the area comfortable and safe to live in.

Representatives of the district prosecutor's office emphasized that participation in such events not only helps restore order but also strengthens trust between government agencies and the public. It's a form of open dialogue and collaborative work for the benefit of society.

The Al-Farabi District Akimat announced that efforts to improve the environmental situation are not limited to just one day of cleanup. Plans are underway to hold similar events regularly, expand their coverage, and involve more residents and organizations.

Additionally, there are plans to intensify greening efforts in the area, including planting new trees and improving public gardens and courtyards. Additional trash cans, waste sorting containers, and informational posters reminding residents of the importance of environmental stewardship are planned for the near future.

Large-scale cleanup days under the Clean Kazakhstan program play a vital role in Shymkent's development. They contribute to improving the environmental situation, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, and strengthening social solidarity.

A city's cleanliness directly impacts its residents' quality of life, its tourist appeal, and its investment image. Therefore, every citizen's participation in such initiatives contributes not only to their own comfort but also to the overall development of the metropolis.

The cleanup day held in the Al-Farabi district on September 6, 2025, became a shining example of how significant results can be achieved through joint efforts. On this day, more than two hundred people demonstrated that cleanliness and order are not just the responsibility of public services, but also the responsibility of every resident.

The removal of nearly 10 tons of waste, the improvement of streets and courtyards, and the friendly atmosphere of the event were proof that when people unite for a common cause, not only the appearance of the city but also the internal mood of society changes.

The organizers expressed gratitude to all participants and emphasized that much work remains. However, such events demonstrate that with active civic engagement and government support, Shymkent can become one of the cleanest and most well-maintained cities in the country.
