On September 9, 2025, scheduled disinfection of livestock buildings took place in the Altyntebe residential complex, located in the Abay District of Shymkent. These activities were part of a comprehensive program to prevent infectious diseases in domestic animals and improve the sanitary conditions of rural areas.

The main objective of the work was to prevent the spread of infections and create safe conditions for farm animals. Small and large farms, as well as private backyards where cows, sheep, goats, horses, and poultry are kept, were completely sanitized.

Special disinfectant solutions were used, certified and safe for both animals and humans. The treatment included spraying the walls, floors, equipment, feeders, and waterers. This ensured the destruction of pathogens, fungi, bacteria, and parasites.

Regular disinfection plays a key role in preventing dangerous diseases such as brucellosis, foot-and-mouth disease, anthrax, leptospirosis and other infections that can spread among farm animals and pose a threat to human health.

Veterinary service representatives emphasized that preventative measures are cheaper and more effective than treating existing outbreaks. Furthermore, systematic treatment of farms reduces the likelihood of epizootics and maintains the region's veterinary and sanitary status.

Along with the disinfection, specialists conducted educational talks with local residents. Livestock owners were briefed on proper animal care and barn maintenance.

Particular attention was paid to the following issues:

  • timely removal of manure and waste;

  • regular ventilation and drying of premises;

  • preventing overcrowding of animals;

  • safe storage of feed;

  • the need for preventive vaccinations and treatment of animals against parasites.

Residents were also reminded of the risks associated with poor sanitary standards. Many infectious diseases are transmitted to humans through milk, meat, or contact with animals. Therefore, preventative measures in livestock facilities protect not only the animals but also the people themselves.

The event was attended by specialists from the Abay District veterinary service, staff from the sanitary and epidemiological station, and representatives of local authorities. Several dozen farms were treated, and consultations with Altyntebe residents were also held.

It's important to note that this isn't the first time such work has been carried out. Throughout the year, zalalsyzdandyru has been implemented in stages in all populated areas of the district. This systematic approach allows us to keep the situation under control and reduce the risk of mass outbreaks.

Local authorities plan to expand the geography of such events, purchase additional equipment for disinfecting premises, and introduce more modern disinfectants.

For many residents of Altyntube, livestock farming remains an important source of income. Rural families keep livestock not only for their own consumption but also to sell dairy and meat products at market. Therefore, caring for the animals' health directly impacts household income.

Local farmers responded positively to the campaign. They said disinfection helps reduce animal treatment costs, increases livestock productivity, and improves product quality.

Disinfection measures also contribute to improving the sanitary conditions of the entire community. Timely treatment of premises reduces the number of insects and rodents, which often carry infections. Furthermore, monitoring the condition of barns helps maintain a clean environment.

Experts emphasize that the success of such measures depends on the shared responsibility of the state and the public. While government agencies organize systematic disinfection, residents themselves must adhere to sanitary regulations on a regular basis. This is the only way to ensure sustainable results and protect animals and people from infections.

September 9, 2025, was further proof that preventative measures in livestock farming are key to the health of the entire region. Disinfection in Altyntebe was successful: farms were disinfected, residents received useful information, and the sanitary conditions of the community significantly improved.

Routine disinfection of livestock facilities is not a formality, but a vital necessity. Such measures help prevent dangerous diseases, maintain the health of animals and people, and maintain the environmental cleanliness of villages and urban outskirts.

The Shymkent Veterinary and Sanitary Department, together with Zhayly Orta and other agencies, will continue its work in this direction. In the future, it plans to cover all districts of the city and ensure stable epizootic and sanitary conditions in the region.

For Altyntebe residents, the events served as a reminder that caring for animals and keeping yards clean is part of a shared culture and a guarantee of a safe life for the entire community.
