On September 7, 2025, an important environmental event was held in Shymkent, aimed at improving the city's sanitary conditions and fostering a culture of cleanliness among the population. The event was initiated by employees of the Department of the Penitentiary System (DUIS), as well as employees of correctional facilities No. 53, No. 54, No. 56, No. 69, and No. 78, and representatives of the probation service. They joined forces and held a mass cleanup day , demonstrating an example of active civic engagement.
Organizers note that the main goal of the event is not only to clean up the area, but also to develop a strong understanding among city residents that a clean environment is the key to a bright future .
Keeping the city clean isn't the sole responsibility of municipal services. It's a shared responsibility for the entire community, and every resident plays a role in shaping Shymkent's future. The cleanup day was a great opportunity to remind everyone of this.
During the clean-up day, a lot of work was done:
Public area cleanup. Streets, sidewalks, courtyards, adjacent areas, and public recreation areas were cleared of debris.
Green space maintenance. Weeds were trimmed, trees and shrubs were tidied, flower beds and lawns were resurfaced.
Cleaning of ditches and canals. Irrigation systems are now open, which directly impacts sanitary conditions and prevents dirt accumulation.
Environmental education. During the event, participants and local residents discussed the importance of caring for the environment.
As a result, several tons of garbage were removed, and dozens of yards and plots were improved.
The DUIS staff demonstrated a high level of organization and responsibility, setting an example of discipline and teamwork. Correctional facility employees also took an active part, demonstrating that caring for the city can and should be a shared responsibility.
The probation service played a special role: its representatives not only worked alongside everyone else, but also conducted preventative discussions with the involved citizens about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and order, starting from the everyday level.
Thus, the event became a platform for bringing together various departments and specialists, who, through their joint efforts, made a tangible contribution to the improvement of Shymkent.
A cleanup isn't just about picking up trash. It's an act of community cohesion and civic responsibility. It has a significant educational impact, especially for young people.
When children see adults uniting to keep their city clean, they learn to respect the environment and adopt healthy habits. It's these kinds of events that shape the environmental culture of future generations.
Cleanliness is an indicator of a society's level of development. If everyone treats the city as their own home, order will become the norm.
The event was held under the slogan:
"A clean environment is the key to a bright future."
These words capture the central idea: caring for nature and the city is directly linked to people's quality of life. Health, comfort, and the attractive appearance of streets are all the result of teamwork.
Environmental campaigns help to create a sense of belonging and responsibility for the common space in society.
DUIS representatives stated that such cleanup days will be held regularly. Plans include expanding the geography of the events, actively engaging the public, and conducting greening campaigns.
Particular attention will be paid to tree planting and green space maintenance, which will make a significant contribution to improving the city's ecology.
Furthermore, we plan to collaborate with educational institutions to engage schoolchildren and students in similar events. This will help raise a new generation for whom cleanliness will become a norm.
September 7, 2025, can be considered the day when another step was taken toward creating an environmentally responsible society. The cleanup demonstrated that residents and government agencies can unite for a common goal.
This initiative not only improved the appearance of individual streets and courtyards but also raised public awareness. People were reminded that maintaining cleanliness depends on each of us .
The cleanup day proved once again that when different organizations work together, the results are immediately noticeable. Hundreds of participants contributed to the city's improvement, setting an example of responsibility and unity.
A clean city is a reflection of the culture and consciousness of its residents.
If every person maintains order at their own level—in their yard, on the street, at work—then Shymkent will become an even more attractive and comfortable place to live.
The organizers expressed hope that the event will become a good tradition and inspire many city residents to join similar events. After all, only through joint efforts can we ensure a clean, green, and safe future for our children and grandchildren.
