On September 13, 2025, another cleanup day, organized by the city's Department of Agriculture, took place in Shymkent. The event was part of traditional weekly environmental campaigns aimed at maintaining cleanliness and order on the city's streets, improving the environmental situation, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship among the population.

The main goal of the cleanup day is to improve street hygiene, beautify the surrounding area, and raise environmental awareness among city residents . With Shymkent rapidly growing and expanding, the issue of cleanliness and greenery is becoming especially pressing.

Representatives of the Department of Agriculture emphasized that such events are not simply a waste collection, but an important element of environmental education for society and the creation of a comfortable urban environment.

Another cleanup day took place on Bozzhyra Street . Department employees actively participated in cleaning roadside areas and ditch systems.

During the work the following activities were carried out:

  • cleaning ditches from household and construction waste,

  • collection and removal of fallen leaves and broken branches,

  • whitewashing tree trunks,

  • improvement of green areas and roadside areas,

  • leveling the shoulders and tidying up the roadway.

All collected waste was packed into special bags and taken to the landfill by municipal services.

The Department of Agriculture has been holding weekly cleanup days for several years now. This practice has become a good tradition, strengthening team spirit while making a significant contribution to the city's well-being.

Regular events help systematically maintain cleanliness in various districts of Shymkent. This makes the streets more attractive and safer, and residents are gradually becoming accustomed to the idea that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility.

All department employees participated in the cleanup. Each was assigned a specific task: some cleaned ditches, others collected trash and leaves, and some maintained green spaces.

According to participants, such events not only help make the city cleaner but also create an atmosphere of team cohesion.

One employee noted:
"We want to show by example that caring for the city is the responsibility of every resident. If everyone maintains order at least near their home or office, Shymkent will become much cleaner and more beautiful."

The administration staff reminded that the city's cleanliness depends not only on public services, but also on the awareness of each citizen.

During the clean-up day, passersby were given leaflets with the following slogans:

  • do not throw garbage in unauthorized places,

  • protect green spaces,

  • do not clog the irrigation systems,

  • actively participate in citywide environmental campaigns.

Developing an environmental culture is a long process, and regular cleanup days play a vital role in this regard.

Shymkent is one of the largest and most dynamically developing cities in Kazakhstan. New roads, residential complexes, parks, and recreation areas are being actively built here. However, along with the growth of infrastructure comes an increasing environmental burden.

Cleanup days organized by the Department of Agriculture contribute to improving the urban environment. They not only help maintain sanitary conditions but also prevent the clogging of irrigation ditches, which subsequently reduces the risk of flooding during rainy seasons.

At the end of the event, representatives of the Department of Agriculture called on city residents to be more responsible:

  • throw garbage only into containers,

  • keep courtyards and entrances clean,

  • protect trees and shrubs,

  • If possible, take part in clean-up days.

"The city is our shared home. Its cleanliness and well-being depend on each of us. The more actively we care for our city, the more comfortable life will be for all residents," the organizers emphasized.

The cleanup day held on September 13, 2025 , was further proof that significant results can be achieved through joint efforts. Thanks to the efforts of the Department of Agriculture staff, Bozzhyra Street was transformed, becoming cleaner and more well-maintained.

The organizers assured that such events will continue in the future. After all, a clean environment is the key to a bright future , and maintaining order in the city is a common cause in which everyone's participation is essential.
