Today, at a briefing held at the information platform of the Regional Communications Service of Shymkent, the official representative of the Shymkent city akimat, deputy city akim - Sarsen Abayuly Kuranbek made the following statement:
The agro-industrial complex in Shymkent has been showing significant growth in recent months. In January-July 2025, the volume of agricultural production amounted to 29.2 billion tenge, an increase of 6.9% compared to the same period last year. The main share of this indicator belongs to livestock farming - 23.1 billion tenge.
In order to increase productivity in the sector, state support is provided to farmers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 479 million tenge has been allocated to 16 commodity producers under subsidies for the development of pedigree livestock farming. As a result, milk production increased by 4.8%, exceeding 13.2 thousand tons, while poultry eggs increased by 18.3%, reaching 4.5 million pieces. The number of livestock in the city is also steadily increasing: the number of horses increased by 3.7%, reaching 20.8 thousand, and the number of poultry increased by 14%, reaching 1.2 million heads.
There are also positive results in agriculture. This year, crops were sown on 23 thousand hectares. Despite the unfavorable weather, farmers harvested about 66 thousand tons of produce. In addition, about 15 thousand tons of vegetables are produced annually from 100 hectares of greenhouse complexes in the city. This year, 863 million tenge was allocated from the local budget for crop production and 1.1 billion tenge for livestock farming.
Investment projects are also being implemented. Two commodity dairy farms and vegetable storage facilities with a capacity of 8.5 thousand tons per year are being built in the city. In addition, meat processing plants with a capacity of up to 50 thousand tons of sausages per year are planned to be launched. Turkish and Polish companies have undertaken modern greenhouse projects with a total area of 800 hectares.
Systematic work is also being carried out in the veterinary sector. Vaccination of animals against highly dangerous diseases continues. Service processes are digitized through electronic systems, and the identification of livestock and the issuance of veterinary certificates are automated. Veterinary specialists are provided with new vehicles, necessary equipment, and their salaries are being gradually increased. In addition, it is planned to build 6 veterinary stations in 2026–2027. In general, the agro-industrial complex of Shymkent is not only increasing production volumes, but also implementing new projects and steadily developing in the direction of providing the population with quality products.
