President delivers speech at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, first of all, expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his exceptional hospitality, noting that today's meeting is of special importance and the agenda is relevant.

– We always say that the history of the Turkic people is a common, centuries-old genealogy common to our peoples. All this is the golden thread of our blessed unity and eternal solidarity. Recently, our countries celebrated the “Day of Cooperation of the Turkic Peoples”. This is an important holiday that strengthens our unity. Today, the Organization of Turkic States has become a prestigious and authoritative structure that unites friendly peoples. Since last year, the Kyrgyz Republic, led by Honorable President Sadyr Japarov, has effectively chaired the Organization. We express our gratitude to the Kyrgyz side. Now the chairmanship will be transferred to the Azerbaijani side under the leadership of Honorable Ilham Heydar oglu. We believe that the prestige and authority of our Organization will continue to grow in the future, - said the President.

The Head of State noted that the global security system is going through a difficult period, emphasizing that conflicts, tensions, and geopolitical confrontations have become a dangerous trend that affects every country in the world.

– In such an uncertain time, I would like to especially note the signing of the Peace Declaration by Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the conflict that has not been resolved for more than 30 years. This was a historic agreement that paved the way for stability and economic growth. The geopolitical situation in the world is currently very complex, so the Turkic countries must unite their forces in the interests of common interests. Today, the world community recognizes us as states with a strong reputation and unity that can withstand great challenges. A number of countries are showing special interest in our Organization. At the same time, Kazakhstan supports the idea of creating the “Organization of Turkic States+” format aimed at expanding the scope of cooperation. This initiative will undoubtedly pave the way for increasing the international prestige of our Organization, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
