On September 18, 2025, in Aktau, the first meeting dedicated to the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level took place. The event brought together deputies of maslikhats of various levels and became an important step in promoting national priorities for sustainable development.

The meeting was initiated by the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The organization of the seminar implements the recommendations of the Parliamentary Commission for monitoring the implementation of national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development.

Welcoming addresses to the participants were made by the chairman of the Mangistau regional maslikhat Zhanbyrbai Matayev, the deputy akim of the Mangistau region Tilek Koshmaganbetov, the director of the Department for the development of the social sphere, law enforcement and special bodies of the Ministry of National Economy Nurgul Zhannazarova, and UNDP project analyst Zaur Ibragimov.

In her speech, Nurgul Zhannazarova emphasized that localization is a key condition for the successful implementation of global goals.

«The achievement of the SDGs is possible only with active work at the local level, and that is why the participation of maslikhat deputies plays such an important role», - noted Nurgul Zhannazarova.

The seminar helped to raise the participants' awareness of the methodology for localizing the SDGs and to strengthen the competencies of deputies in integrating the goals into regional development plans. This will ensure a more balanced socio-economic and environmental development of the regions.

Within the framework of the State Planning System, a decomposition of national SDG indicators into strategic documents is being carried out, including their adaptation and implementation in regional development programs.
