Kazakhstan and Mexico Develop Partnership in the Field of Football

Toluca, September 18, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Mexico, Almurat Turganbekov, held a meeting with the Executive President of the Mexican Football Federation, Ivar Sisniega.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in football, with particular attention given to the development of men’s and women’s football, junior teams, and futsal (indoor football).
Ambassador Almurat Turganbekov presented the Mexican side with the history of football development in Kazakhstan and spoke about the achievements of Kazakhstani football clubs and the national team. To strengthen ties in this field, he proposed establishing cooperation between the national football federations of Kazakhstan and Mexico.
Ivar Sisniega praised the current success of Kazakhstani football and congratulated the Almaty-based club “Kairat” on reaching the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026, noting his keen interest in watching Kazakhstani clubs participate in one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments. He supported the idea of strengthening cooperation between the football federations and launching joint projects.
In addition, Ambassador Almurat Turganbekov was briefed on Mexico's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada in the summer of next year.
The President of the Mexican Football Federation also expressed interest in exchanging experience in the field of women’s football, particularly highlighting the idea of launching the UEFA Playmakers program in Kazakhstan – a project implemented jointly by the Kazakhstan Football Federation, UEFA, and Disney.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen Kazakh-Mexican cooperation in football across various areas.
