In Semey, the Severny Trade and Logistics Center (TLC) hosts weekly agricultural fairs aimed at providing residents with affordable, high-quality food products. The events are organized at the initiative of the Abay Regional Akimat and take place every Saturday.
The Severny Center, located at 2 Severny Promuzel Street (right bank), is a modern indoor retail space offering all the necessary conditions for comfortable shopping.
Under a memorandum signed with the center's management, 24 retail spaces are provided free of charge, allowing for price containment and product sales below market value.
The shelves feature socially important food products: meat, dairy products, vegetables, bakery products, and cereals.
Commodity prices remain consistently low:
beef - 3,500 tenge/kg
chicken - 1,500 tenge/kg
flour (grade 1) - 180 tenge/kg
bread - 150 tenge
sunflower oil (Zarechnoye) - 850 tenge/l
butter (Borodulikha district) - 2,800 tenge/kg
potatoes - 180 tenge/kg
carrots - 200 tenge/kg
onions - 170 tenge/kg
cabbage - 190 tenge/kg
sugar - 490 tenge/kg
eggs - 580 tenge/dozen
buckwheat - 250 tenge/kg
Today, 19.5 tons of beef, 1,000 kg of potatoes, 1,000 kg of onions, and 250 kg of carrots, 250 kg of cabbage.
These volumes confirm the high demand and social significance of the fairs. City residents eagerly visit the stalls, praising both the quality and affordability of the products.
The Abay Regional Akimat continues to expand the format of the fairs. An additional schedule of agricultural events for the period September to December 2025 is currently being developed. This will ensure an uninterrupted supply of fresh and affordable produce throughout the autumn and winter.
Agricultural fairs in Semey are more than just a means of trade; they are an important means of supporting the population, especially in the face of rising prices and inflationary pressures.
