The regional akim, Nurlybek Nalibayev, met with Mr. Cai Guo, CEO of one of the region's largest industrial enterprises, the «Orda Glass Ltd» sheet glass factory. The meeting discussed the plant's current operations, production capacity, and future investment projects.
It is worth noting that the «Orda Glass Ltd» factory was launched in 2022 as part of the industrialization program and the Kazakh-Chinese cooperation project «Bir Beldeu – Bir Zhol». It is the only innovative enterprise in the republic producing sheet glass, with an annual capacity of 197,100 tons. 42 billion tenge in foreign investment was attracted for the project.
Since its launch, 70% of the factory's output has been sold domestically, while 30% is exported to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Georgia. Following a working visit by the regional akim to the People's Republic of China in 2023, a new energy-saving glass production line with an annual capacity of 5 million square meters was launched. The project's investment value is $15 million.
The regional akim's office is taking comprehensive measures to ensure the plant's stable operation and provide infrastructure support. In turn, the Chinese investor plans to implement a new two-phase investment project worth $55 million.
The glass factory's operations have spurred the development of related industries in the region. Future plans include the opening of factories producing mirrors, bottles, and tempered glass. These projects will diversify the region's economy, develop a glass cluster, create new jobs, and replace imports, supplying the domestic market with high-quality domestic products. These initiatives will generate additional revenue for the regional budget and create conditions for local employment.
