The prospects for further development of seed production and the introduction of innovative agricultural technologies in Kazakhstan were discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, and the leadership of Rijk Zwaan, one of the world’s recognized leaders in vegetable breeding and seed production.

During the talks, the parties reviewed opportunities to expand joint projects, including deepening scientific cooperation with Kazakhstani agricultural and research institutions.

The Ambassador emphasized the significant contribution of Rijk Zwaan to the development of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. Since 2023, the company has been actively introducing innovative vegetable varieties in Kazakhstan. In Turkestan region, a demonstration farm is being established as a key platform for adapting and testing advanced technologies.

Special attention was paid to the company’s cooperation with the Institute of Botany of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Within this framework, research is being conducted on the development of resilient plant varieties, serving as a vivid example of effective international collaboration in plant breeding and seed production.

The Ambassador noted that Kazakhstan is actively preparing to join the international organization UPOV, which will ensure reliable legal protection of new plant varieties and create even more favourable conditions for innovation and expanded cooperation with leading global companies.

The Kazakh side expressed readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Rijk Zwaan’s initiatives, opening new horizons for partnership and contributing to the sustainable development of the country’s agro-industrial sector.

In the Netherlands, Rijk Zwaan ranks 11th in terms of the number of implemented innovative solutions — an outstanding achievement not only nationally but also globally. In 2024, the company was officially awarded the prestigious “Royal” designation, symbolizing its more than century-long history of success and confirming its leadership position in the industry.
