A round table on the topic: «Address of the Head of State: current issues of socio-economic development of Kazakhstan» was held at the Institute of Economic Research. The meeting's participants - experts, economists, and representatives of state bodies - considered the key directions outlined in the Address of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev «Kazakhstan in the era of artificial intelligence: current tasks and their solutions through digital transformation» of September 8, 2025.

Opening the event, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute Kaisar Nigmetov noted that the discussion should be of a practical nature.

«Today our main task is not only to discuss but also to prepare concrete proposals. Expert analysis should become the basis for the implementation of the strategic initiatives of the Head of State», – he stressed.

During the discussion, reports from representatives of the scientific and expert community were heard. Among them were the deputy director for domestic policy of the Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the RK Alua Zholdybalina, an independent expert, a lecturer at the National Academy of Corporate Governance Maksat Mukhanov, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Batzhan Akmoldina.

Special attention was paid to issues of transport infrastructure and investment policy. Leading research fellow of the Institute Azamat Nurseitov noted that the instructions on the development of cargo aviation and the introduction of autonomous technologies form a unified vision of logistics and innovation as an integrated business ecosystem.

«This direction requires large-scale investments and systemic management. The development of transit potential and the expansion of the geography of export routes remain a priority of the state's economic policy. At the same time, it is important that all infrastructure projects work as a single network», – the expert emphasized.

The topic of urbanism and the creation of the new city of Alatau City aroused no less interest. Doctor of political sciences, leading research fellow of the Center for regional studies and quality of life of the Institute Gabit Matayev noted that this project will become an example of a «digital city», where the management of all processes will be as transparent and effective as possible.

«Already today, digitalization is making citizens' lives easier: through mobile applications, you can pay for travel, receive a public service, or make an appointment with a doctor. In Alatau City, all services will be integrated into a single system. The use of big data will allow regulating traffic flows, controlling energy consumption, monitoring environmental indicators, and optimizing the work of the city's infrastructure», – he explained.

The round table at the Institute of Economic Research once again confirmed the importance of this platform as a leading expert center where ideas are formed, strategic priorities of socio-economic development are discussed, and practical solutions are developed.
