Chaired by the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev meeting of the Chamber of Deputies was held in, during which deputies reviewed the law on e-commerce and voiced parliamentary inquiries.

During the meeting, senators considered the Law «On Ratification of the Protocol Amending the Treaty on the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union of April 11, 2017». As noted by the deputies, ratification of the Protocol will create a legal framework for regulating e-commerce, improve customs administration of e-commerce goods, strengthen oversight of compliance with technical regulations and the safety of imported goods, and increase budget revenues through the collection of customs duties and taxes.

«The protocol defines the procedure for crossing the customs border for goods purchased on foreign online platforms. In this regard, it introduces the concept of «e-commerce operator» and a new type of customs declaration - the e-commerce declaration. The document also contains other provisions aimed at improving customs administration. We hope that the law will facilitate the further development of cooperation in e-commerce between the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, - the Senate Speaker said, commenting on the approved law.
