Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: "Parliamentary reform is an issue directly related to the fate of our country and people"

"Today we gathered for the first meeting of the Working Group on Parliamentary Reform.

As you know, last week I signed a decree on the establishment of a special working group. Parliamentary reform is a very important and responsible task facing our country. In my address, I clearly stated that this issue should be comprehensively discussed in the civil sector, among experts, as well as in the current Parliament.

Today, at our first meeting, we have representatives of the Parliament, the Presidential Administration, the Government, and political parties, as well as lawyers, scientists, and public figures. All of them are well-known citizens of the country, experts in various fields.

"I would like to reiterate: Parliamentary reform is an issue that is directly related to the fate of our country and our people. I believe that each member of the working group will correctly understand this historical task and will actively work on it."
