Stockholm, 2 October 2025 – On 1–2 October 2025, a working visit of a Kazakh delegation led by Vice Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov took place in Sweden. The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University, and the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing.

As part of the visit, the Vice Minister held talks with Daniel Liljeberg, State Secretary to the Minister for Rural Affairs of Sweden. The parties discussed the expansion of bilateral trade, the advancement of scientific cooperation, and the implementation of joint projects, as well as the adoption of Swedish best practices in the digitalisation and modernisation of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex.

A key focus of the visit was the exchange of expertise with Sweden’s leading research and innovation institutions. The Kazakh delegation visited the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, where they were introduced to advanced educational and research programmes, as well as innovative solutions in sustainable and environmentally oriented agriculture. The parties discussed prospects for launching joint educational initiatives and expanding academic mobility between relevant universities of the two countries.

The programme also included a trip to SLU's agroecological field experiment site and a tour of the production facility of Envirologic AB, a company specializing in the automation of livestock farming processes.

The highlight of the visit was participation in the Kazakh-Swedish round table, held in the historic building of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. The event brought together by representatives of government agencies, intuitions, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for Eurasia, and Swedish companies. In his remarks, Vice-Minister Taszhurekov presented the priorities of Kazakhstan's agricultural policy, as outlined in the recent Address to the Nation by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Head of State identified the agro-industrial complex as a strategic driver of national development and emphasized the need to integrate artificial intelligence, satellite monitoring, and digital platforms into farm management and crop yield forecasting.

The Vice Minister also held bilateral meetings with Anders Drottja, Political Adviser to the Minister for Rural Affairs of Sweden; with the leadership of Väderstad AB, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery; Acanova AB, which is introducing the advanced ThermoSeed® seed treatment technology in Kazakhstan, and Trade Scandinavia, which facilitates trade and economic cooperation between countries.

The visit to Sweden confirmed the mutual interest of both sides in deepening cooperation in agricultural sector and laid a solid foundation for further practical engagement.
