25 September 2025, Montreal, ICAO Headquarters. On the margins of the 42^nd Session of the ICAO Assembly, Chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Saltanat Tompieva, and the Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to ICAO, Mr. Timur Tlegenov, held a working meeting with Mr. Chris Rocheleau, Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The meeting focused on aligning Kazakhstan’s state safety oversight system with international standards, as well as preparations for the upcoming FAA IASA audit in Kazakhstan and the attainment of Category 1 status, which is essential for opening direct air services between Kazakhstan and the United States.

Ms. Tompieva underlined the importance of partnership with the FAA, which provides access to leading global practices and expertise.

Mr. Rocheleau commended Kazakhstan’s progress in civil aviation and highlighted the importance of continued cooperation, particularly in the areas of technical regulation and compliance with ICAO standards.

During the meeting, the aviation authorities of both countries also discussed personnel development, including training and internship programs for inspectors and accident investigation specialists.

The talks were held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
