Druskininkai, 8 October 2025 – A solemn ceremony was held in the city of Druskininkai to mark the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Lithuanian entrepreneur Rimantas Markauskas has been appointed as Honorary Consul and will contribute to the development of economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and Lithuania.

Mayor of Druskininkai Ričardas Malinauskas noted that the opening of the Honorary Consulate will mark a new stage in cooperation between the city and Kazakhstan, as well as create additional opportunities for the implementation of joint initiatives.

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Lithuania Timur Urazayev emphasized that Kazakhstan and Lithuania are united by long-standing relations of friendship and mutual respect, and that the opening of the consulate will give new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, tourism, education, and cultural exchange.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, the business community, and public organizations.
