Alytus, 10 October 2025 – Representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Lithuania, led by Ambassador Timur Urazayev, honored the memory of Alexey Tikhonenko, a Hero of the Soviet Union and native of Kazakhstan, by laying a wreath at his burial site in Alytus.

Tikhonenko fought bravely on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, demonstrating courage and selflessness. He made a significant contribution to the common victory over fascism, defending his homeland and the freedom of future generations. Tikhonenko’s heroism symbolizes the bravery and sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of Kazakhstanis who stood to defend peace during the most difficult years of the war.

Head of the diplomatic mission Timur Urazayev emphasized that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to preserving historical memory and honoring those who gave their lives for peace. “The memory of people like Alexey Tikhonenko is not just history – it is a living connection between generations and an important part of the friendship that unites our nations,” he noted.
