The Heritage of Korkyt : Epic Values Common to the Turkic World

An international scientific and theoretical conference, «The Heritage of Korkyt : Epic Values Common to the Turkic World», was held as part of the international folklore and music festival «The Heritage of Korkyt». Regional Akim Nurlybek Nalibayev participated in the event.
The conference was attended by Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, renowned scholars, researchers, and cultural figures from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and domestic specialists.
The regional governor emphasized that promoting common values is an important priority within the framework of the document «The future of the Turkic world-2040», approved by the President.
«Our President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich approved the document «The future of the Turkic world-2040». Most importantly, we have strengthened the unity of fraternal peoples. We have declared our shared values to the entire world. We follow the legacy of our ancestors and strengthen the unity of the Turkic peoples. Our goal now is to preserve this unity, based on mutual trust and brotherhood, and pass it on to future generations», - he said.
Nurlybek Mashbekovich noted: «Korkyt ata is a spiritual figure common to all Turkic peoples, a symbol of national unity and the idea of eternal life. His wisdom, legacy, and teachings have served as our spiritual support for centuries and are preserved in the memory of nations and generations. Today, exploring Korkyt's legacy is not only an exploration of the past but also a spiritual mission aimed at the future. Scientific research and international relations in this area have made a huge contribution to strengthening the cultural integrity and spiritual harmony of the Turkic peoples». The conference featured speeches by the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Aktoty Raimkulova; Director of the Institute of Folklore of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Kuliyev; Professor of the Kazakh National University, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Anarbay Buldybay; Chief Researcher of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Zhyldyz Orozobekova; Professor of the Kazy Bayram Veli University in Ankara, Mehmet Cevik; renowned Turkish ethnomusicologist and scholar, Fikret Karakaya; Director of the A. Navoi State Museum of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Zhoppor Eshonkulov; Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Zhyrau, Almas Almatov; Candidate of Philological Sciences, Rakysh Zhumashay; Associate Professor of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, Ulzhan Baibosynova. It's worth noting that in 2018, Korkyt Ata's legacy was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Today, systematic efforts continue to honor the spirit of the great thinker, preserve, and widely promote his legacy.
Currently, the Korkyt Ata memorial in the Karmakshy district serves as a spiritual retreat for tourists, with all the necessary amenities provided within the complex. In Kyzylorda, an alley dedicated to the 1300th anniversary of the «Book of Korkyt Ata» has been renovated and has become a favorite recreation spot for locals. A new terminal has been opened at Korkyt Ata International Airport.
To promote medieval historical and cultural heritage internationally, joint events are being held with the National Museum, TURKSOY, and the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Based on the artifacts found during the excavations, the sculptures «Shirik Rabat sak zhauyngeri», «Syganak khanshayimy», «Tugisken kosemi», «Zhetiasar aksuyek ayeli» were recreated and introduced into scientific circulation.
