In honor of the Republic Day and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, a republican debate tournament entitled "From Deep History to a Bright Future!" has begun in Shymkent.
Deputy Mayor of Shymkent, Sarsen Abayuly Kuranbek, attended the opening ceremony of the large-scale intellectual competition and wished the participating youth good luck and good wishes.
More than 120 teams from 9 regions of the country - the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Karaganda, Zhambyl, and West Kazakhstan regions - are participating in the tournament. They are testing each other's knowledge and oratory skills in the debate arena.
Experienced debaters and senior representatives of the debate movement, selected from three higher education institutions in Shymkent, were involved in the judging of the competition. A total of about 70 professional judges ensured that the debate was fair and open.
The resolutions discussed during the tournament cover current issues in society. In particular, opinions are expressed and different points of view are discussed on topics related to technology, democracy, legal culture, the education system, and youth policy.
The two-day republican debate tournament will conclude tomorrow and the winners will be announced.
