A republican seminar-conference on the topic "Digital tools - a new model of water infrastructure management" was held in Shymkent. This event was jointly organized by the city akimat, the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the "Kazakhstan Center for Modernization and Development of Housing and Communal Services" JSC. The conference was devoted to the issues of effective management of water resources, the introduction of new technologies, providing high-quality services to the population through the use of automated systems, and improving infrastructure projects.
The seminar was attended by First Deputy Mayor of the city, Aidyn Karimov, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, domestic and foreign companies, as well as experts from the housing and communal services and water supply sectors. During the meeting, new models and effective methods of managing water resources using digital tools were presented.
The main goal of the event was to implement the tasks set out in the Address of the Head of State “Kazakhstan in the era of artificial intelligence: current issues and their solution through radical digital transformations”. In his Address, the President noted that digitalization and the use of new technologies are not only a means of increasing efficiency, but also a key mechanism for the sustainable development of the country and improving the quality of life of the population. Within the framework of implementing these tasks, systematic work is being carried out at the city and republican levels.
In his speech, the first deputy mayor of the city, Aidyn Karimov, noted that the issue of effective water resource management is of particular importance for the city of Shymkent. “Population growth, rapid industrial development, construction of new residential areas require the provision of high-quality drinking water, an effective sewage system and reliable infrastructure. The traditional approaches used to date are no longer sufficient. Climate change, increased consumption and increased water consumption require new solutions. Therefore, the introduction of digital tools and automated systems is becoming a priority for Shymkent, as well as for Kazakhstan as a whole,” said Aidyn Karimov.
During the seminar, special attention was paid to new technological methods in water resources management. Among them:
Automation of water supply and sewage systems - these systems allow for accurate control of water consumption, timely detection of malfunctions, and the possibility of timely repair work.
Digital monitoring systems allow you to monitor water quality, pressure, consumption, and the condition of the sewage system. Since this data is obtained in real time, the decision-making process becomes faster and more efficient.
The use of artificial intelligence and big data is being used to plan water resources, forecast consumption, and optimize urban infrastructure. These approaches can help prevent water shortages and reduce costs.
The seminar participants discussed modern methods and practical solutions in water infrastructure management. Of particular interest was the experience of digitalizing the water system of the city of Shymkent. New technologies being introduced in the city are aimed at more efficient use of water resources, reducing water losses, and increasing the reliability of urban infrastructure.
The seminar also reviewed international experience. For example, in developed countries, water resources management systems are fully automated, and water metering, purification, and distribution processes are carried out through digital platforms. In Kazakhstan, the water supply system in cities is also being raised to a new level by introducing these best practices.
In his speech, Aidyn Karimov noted that providing residents with high-quality drinking water is the main task of the city administration. "Currently, our main goal is to improve the quality of life of residents by modernizing water infrastructure and introducing new technologies. By systematically collecting and analyzing data, it becomes possible to identify and prevent problems in a timely manner. This will pave the way for providing stable and high-quality services to city residents," said the first deputy akim of the city.
At the end of the seminar, participants noted the effectiveness of using new digital technologies, their importance in water resources management and their crucial role in improving urban infrastructure. They also discussed the possibility of reducing costs, ensuring environmental sustainability, and improving infrastructure in line with the city's development strategy through the introduction of digital tools.
At the end of the meeting, the city administration and representatives of the departments announced specific plans and proposals for the introduction of new technologies in the management of water supply and sewage systems. These plans are aimed at the efficient use of water resources, the provision of high-quality drinking water to the city's residents, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
Seminar participants explored new approaches and methodologies for managing water supply systems using digital technologies, exchanged experiences, and developed recommendations for the implementation of future projects.
Thus, the republican seminar-conference held in Shymkent was an important step towards introducing new digital approaches to water resources management, upgrading infrastructure to a modern level, and providing quality services to residents. This event is also becoming a model for effective water infrastructure management in other regions of the country.
