On October 6, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was held in Shymkent as part of the “Clean Kazakhstan” republican campaign to promote environmental culture and protect the environment. In all districts of the city, municipal employees, representatives of government agencies, and volunteer residents joined forces and actively participated in cleaning streets and riverbanks. This initiative is aimed not only at improving the beauty of the city, but also at strengthening the responsibility of each citizen for his native land.
In particular, in Turan district , organized by the Department of Urban Development of the Environment, a large-scale clean-up was carried out on the banks of the Badam River . The Turan district akimat , as well as employees of ShymkentSpetsKompleks LLP , participated in the action. A total of about 40 people and 4 special equipment were mobilized during the clean-up.
The environmental event, which began at nine in the morning, was held at a highly organized level. Participants cleaned the riverbed from household waste, plastic bottles and garbage. The collected garbage was placed in special bags and taken to a landfill. During the cleaning, work was also carried out to preserve the natural appearance of the river, plant greenery along the banks, and open irrigation channels.
The main goal of this initiative is to preserve the purity of natural water bodies and create environmental awareness . The Badam River is one of the most important natural objects of Shymkent. The cleanliness along it directly affects the ecology of the city. Therefore, such events should be held regularly.
According to the participants of the Sabbilyk, such events have a great impact on creating a culture of careful attention to nature among the population, as well as increasing the environmental responsibility of young people.
The deputy akim of Turan district said in his speech:
"A clean environment is an indicator of the quality of life of residents. Today's Sabbath is not just a one-day event, it is a concrete step towards creating an ecological culture. If each of us contributes to protecting nature, we will beautify our city," he said.
The employees and residents who participated in the campaign worked with great enthusiasm. One person tidied up the bushes near the bank, while the other began to clean up the household waste accumulated along the river. Within a few hours, the riverbank was significantly cleaned. The area, which was previously covered with various types of garbage, is now becoming a clean and comfortable place to relax.
The cleaning work along the Badam River is in line with the national goal of the Clean Kazakhstan campaign. This environmental movement is being implemented throughout the country and its main slogan is “A clean environment is the key to a healthy life .” In Shymkent, work in this direction is being carried out systematically: cleaning parks and riverbanks, planting trees in green areas, and creating a culture of proper household waste disposal are all part of this initiative.
During the weekend, environmental education activities were also carried out along the river. Representatives of the institution explained to residents the importance of not polluting water bodies, disposing of household waste in special containers, and protecting nature. The participants warmly welcomed this initiative and expressed their support for more frequent holding of such events.
Employees of ShymkentSpetsKompleks LLP, in turn, said that they have made participation in environmental Saturday a tradition. They are constantly active in garbage collection and cleaning in the city. According to company representatives, such events not only increase the environmental culture of society, but also strengthen unity among labor collectives.
The institutions responsible for the cleanliness of the Badam River not only collected garbage during the Sabbath, but also carried out work to clean the riverbed and ensure the free movement of running water . This has a positive effect on the river's ecosystem and allows for improved water quality.
Residents of the Turan district and youth organizations also showed their activity. In particular, schoolchildren and students voluntarily participated in the Sabbath and, together with adults, helped clean up the riverbank. Such an experience teaches young people to respect nature and forms the basis for the formation of environmental awareness.
At the end of the action, the participants were thanked and the importance of protecting nature and keeping the city clean was once again reminded. According to the organizers, such Saturdays will continue not only in the fall, but in stages throughout the year. In the future, tree planting and landscaping work is also planned on the river banks.
The cleaning work along the Badam River is part of a comprehensive set of measures aimed at improving the environmental situation in Shymkent. Thanks to the activity and solidarity of the city's residents, today's event was held at a high level.
In conclusion, this Sabbath clearly demonstrated another important idea: cleanliness is a common responsibility for all of us . If every resident takes responsibility for the cleanliness of their home, street, and river, then Shymkent will truly become an ecologically clean, green, and comfortable city.
Today's event was a shining example of teamwork, civic responsibility, and love for nature.
"A clean city is a shared responsibility!"
