Apostille of documents is a procedure for complying with certain legal requirements in the preparation of documents intended for use abroad. Citizens may encounter documents apostilled when traveling abroad for family reasons, study, etc. Apostille is necessary to confirm the authenticity of an official document issued in one country and its acceptance in the territory of another. Thus, apostille is an important tool for cross-country exchange of documents and is one of the popular types of public services at the present time.
In accordance with the Rules for the provision of the public service "Apostille of official documents emanating from the bodies of justice and other state bodies, as well as notaries of the Republic of Kazakhstan", approved by the order of the acting Minister of Justice No. 58 dated May 27, 2020, the service provider is the Ministry of Justice, the Departments of Justice of the regions, the cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent.
The service provider provides a public service on the principle of extraterritoriality, which allows the stamp "apostille" to be affixed, regardless of the region or city of the country where the document subject to apostille was issued.
An application for receiving a public service in an electronic format is submitted through the "electronic government" web portal www.egov.kz using the electronic digital signature of the service recipient. The term for obtaining an electronic stamp "Apostille" is 1 (one) business day.
