Last week, 176 criminal cases were registered in the investigation bodies of Shymkent, four of which were sent to court. The most frequently registered crimes were fraud (62 cases), theft (41 cases) and drug trafficking (9 cases). In addition, 8 cases were opened in connection with traffic accidents.
The main types of fraud are committed via the Internet. For example, among the 37 registered Internet frauds:
• fraud committed through product advertisements on social networks (16 cases),
• misappropriation of citizens' funds through investment advertisements (4 cases),
• making fake calls pretending to be a bank employee or a civil servant (12 cases),
• There were cases of fraudulent loans (4 cases).
For example, a city resident named "C" ordered an iPhone 17 via Instagram and transferred 820,000 tenge to an unknown person. A criminal case is currently being investigated on this fact.
The competent authorities urge city residents to be extremely careful when purchasing goods online, not to trust dubious advertisements, and to only contact official stores.
There has also been an increase in crimes related to online drug stores recently. For example, a citizen temporarily lent his bank card to an acquaintance. However, the card was used in drug sales, and as a result, the owner was held legally liable.
In this regard, residents should not give their bank cards to strangers and refuse suspicious money transfers. If you notice a suspicious situation, you are advised to immediately call 102.
There has also been an increase in traffic accidents in the city. Most of them are caused by speeding, distraction from cell phones, pedestrians violating traffic rules, and drunk driving. Last week alone, 8 traffic accidents were recorded for these reasons.
The Emergency Situations Department and the Police Department urge drivers to strictly follow traffic rules, and parents to prevent children from operating scooters and mopeds without following safety rules.
In addition, in recent days, thefts of bicycles, strollers, and household items have become more frequent in apartment buildings. On October 10, an unknown person illegally entered an apartment in the Nursat microdistrict and stole gold jewelry and cash.
Therefore, residents are advised to install video surveillance cameras, not announce that no one is home, and increase vigilance.
This was announced today by the official representative of the Shymkent city administration, deputy city akim, Sarsen Abayuly Kuranbek.
