During the meeting, topical measures were discussed to reduce the number of neglected animals and improve their living conditions.

To date, in accordance with the previously developed recommendations of the working group, a number of measures have already been implemented aimed at improving the situation with stray animals in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. In particular, this year:

• additional funds have been allocated for the sterilization of stray animals;
• trapping of neglected animals has been organized with the involvement of representatives of animal protection organizations;
• cooperation has been established with private shelters — the Veterinary Department of the East Kazakhstan region has monitored the work on vaccination and sterilization of animals;
• Work on chipping pets has intensified.

Following the meeting, a number of additional recommendations were developed aimed at increasing the responsibility of pet owners and creating a culture of responsible attitude towards animals in society.

• an increase in the amount of chipping of neglected animals, their temporary detention in shelters and trapping, vaccination and sterilization;
• the possibility of allocating budget funds for chipping pets of socially vulnerable categories of the population;
• posting information in large urban communities on social media about animals from shelters, encouraging them to take them home for permanent maintenance;
• development of measures to support volunteers in this area from among the students of the city's universities.

The Working Group will continue its activities, combining the efforts of government agencies, deputies and public organizations.
