Shymkent celebrated Republic Day and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty.

The "Kyzgaldaq" Palace in Shymkent hosted a gala event, "Kyran Elim – Kazaqstanym," dedicated to Republic Day and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan. The festive event took place in an atmosphere of patriotism and national unity.
Participants included representatives of the intelligentsia, veterans, maslikhat deputies, members of the public council, and residents of the metropolis.
A significant holiday of national unity
Republic Day is one of the most important national holidays, symbolizing the independence, sovereignty and unity of the Kazakh people.
In his congratulatory address, Shymkent Mayor Gabit Syzdykbekov noted the historical significance of this day and emphasized the role of unity and labor in the country's development.
"This is a significant day, when the foundation of our state was laid and the future course of independent Kazakhstan was determined. Along with Republic Day, we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Declaration of State Sovereignty. Today, at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Kemelovich Tokayev, the country is undergoing a period of political and economic renewal," the mayor noted.
The metropolis' economy is showing steady growth
According to the akim, Shymkent's economy has received significant development impetus in recent years.
Over the past three years, the city has attracted approximately 2 trillion tenge in investment, and more than 3 million square meters of housing have been commissioned. Shymkent's budget has reached 895 billion tenge for the first time, with half of this allocated to support the social sector.
"Shymkent today is a modern, dynamically developing metropolis with advanced infrastructure and high economic potential. We are consistently working to ensure that the results of the ongoing reforms are felt by every city resident," emphasized Gabit Syzdykbekov.
The work of city residents was recognized with state awards
During the ceremony, more than 40 city residents who made significant contributions to the development of the region and the country were awarded state and departmental awards. These included the Order of Parasat, the Order of Reverend, the Order of Enbek Daңқы (3rd class), and the medals of the Eren Enbegі Ushіn (Eren Enbegі Ushіn) and Shapaғat (Shapagat).
In addition, distinguished citizens received the honorary titles of "Honored Worker of Kazakhstan", "Veteran of Public Service", the Certificate of Honor of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the gold medal of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan "Birlik".
One of those awarded was Bukharbai Parmanov, who dedicated more than 40 years to public service.
"I've spent my entire life in public service. Today, my work has been recognized with the Order of Honor. It's a great honor. Republic Day is one of the most significant holidays, symbolizing the country's independence and calling for national unity and solidarity," the veteran said.
Among those awarded was also an employee of the Sabyr Rakhimov Military College of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gulmira Ospanova, who was awarded the medal "Eren eңbegі үшін".
"This award recognizes the work of our entire team. In Shymkent, we are actively working to foster military-patriotic education among young people. At the initiative and with the support of ten public associations, a Veterans Commission was established, which conducts large-scale events aimed at strengthening patriotic spirit and respect for the country's history," noted Gulmira Ospanova.
A festive concert in honor of independent Kazakhstan
The evening culminated in a festive concert filled with patriotic songs and performances dedicated to the independence and prosperity of Kazakhstan.
