From October 5 to 10, 2025, Kazakhstan participated as a guest of honor in the 19th International Trans-Saharan Film Festival in Zagora, which celebrated Kazakhstan's national holiday, Republic Day.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the Moroccan Parliament, Abdelkader Taher, Chairman of the Morocco-Kazakhstan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, Madani Cheikhi, Chairman of the Zagora City Council, Abdeljadil El-Kreif, Chairman of the Zagora Municipal Council, Youssef Dahhamat, Vice President of the Zagora Provincial Tourism Board, representatives of the diplomatic corps, and media.
Festival President Khaled Shahid congratulated the festival on its opening and noted that holding such a large-scale event in partnership with the embassy, ​​showcasing Kazakhstan's culture and cinema, is crucial for the development of the region, as it attracts tourists and influential figures and promotes the country's film industry. In her speech, Ambassador S.Sailauqzyzy highlighted the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan, important events and international initiatives, as well as the achievements of relations between the two countries in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
The film festival will feature films from more than 25 countries across Europe, Africa, and Asia, including Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Four films from Kazakhstan were screened: "Tulip," "Sasyk," "Tomiris," and "Paralympiets." Representatives of the country's film industry, including renowned Kazakh actress Samal Yeslyamova, participated in the event. Moroccan audiences enthusiastically greeted the concert by artists from the "Shymkent-Concert" Philharmonic. The festival included a joint screening of Kazakh and Moroccan national costumes, as well as a concert by artists from the "Shymkent-Concert" Philharmonic for children with disabilities and residents of Ben-Zoli in Zagora Province.
